2. Sign up for an Observatory time slot in the signup sheets on Ned's office door (Olin 151).
Observing times are as follows:

• Sunday: 9-10 pm, 10-11 pm, 11-12 pm
• Monday: 9-10 pm, 10-11 pm, 11-12 pm
• Tuesday: 9-10 pm, 10-11 pm, 11-12 pm
• Wednesday: 9-10 pm, 10-11 pm, 11-12 pm
• Thursday: 9-10 pm, 10-11 pm, 11-12 pm

Rules for Signup

• A maximum of 6 students may sign up for any time slot.
• To be fair to your fellow students, you may sign up for only one time slot at a time. If I see your name listed twice, I will cross it off.
  
• If observing cannot be conducted during your time slot, you may immediately sign up for another time slot.
• If you sign up for a time slot, and then do not show up at the Observatory, you will not be allowed to sign up again until the remainder of the class has completed the lab. It really pisses me off when you take a slot away from other students and then don't make use of it.

3. Read over the lab before you go to the Observatory. It's dark outside, so it will be hard to read while you're doing the lab!

4. On the night of your observing slot, check the weather. If you can see stars, the lab will be held. If you're unsure, call X71139, where you'll hear an answering machine message indicating whether lab will be held.

5. Go to the Observatory at the appointed time and complete the lab with the Teaching Assistants and Instructors.

6. Once you've obtained your observations, you'll need to do some analysis. The lab writeup contains notes on how to do this. Make sure you complete the analysis before handing in the lab.

7. Return the lab to Ned in class or in the box by Ned's office. You will not receive credit for the lab until you've handed it in.
