Bucknell University and the Susquehanna River Heartland Coalition for Environmental Studies is soliciting posters for the 8th annual Susquehanna River Symposium, "A Fragmented System: Dams on the Susquehanna River," to be held in the Elaine Langone Center on Bucknell's campus on Friday, Oct. 18 and Sat., Oct. 19.

Posters should feature research that is generally related to the Susquehanna watershed and the Chesapeake Bay. They can include work from a wide range of academic disciplines, including the arts, history, humanities, social and natural sciences, and engineering. Considering this year's symposium is focusing on the impact of dams on rivers, we are also soliciting posters that address the topic of dams on other rivers as well and not limited to just the Susquehanna. By "dams," we are referring to a wide range of impoundments, including (1) natural glacial and landslide dams; (2) historical mill, canal, or logging dams, (3) modern man-made dams for recreation, flood control, and hydropower; and (4) dam removal and river restoration.

Students and faculty are encouraged to submit abstracts for completed or ongoing projects that have produced noteworthy research. The deadline for submission of poster abstracts containing title, author(s) name(s), and description of the project is 8 AM on Monday, Oct. 14.

One or more of the poster authors should be present during Friday evening's symposium's poster session to interact with the audience and answer any questions.

For more information, please download a copy of the "2013 Symposium Poster Session Guide," available by clicking on the link to the right. Posters can be taken down after 1 pm Saturday, October 19th.
