ELEC 320 - Linear Systems and Signal Processing

Fall 2009

Final Project

Project Presentation Schedule

The goals of this assignment are to design, build, test, and document a system. Ideally, your design would be sold to a company for wide distribution. I recommend that you choose a system that interests your team. In addition to demonstrating your working system to the class and guests, we require a technical report that documents your design, a product specification data sheet for use by the marketing group, and a sales brochure.

The project proposal is due on October 30, 2009. We will have a peer review of your project reports and presentation slides on Monday November 23, 2009.

The final project report is due November 30, 2009.

We will begin oral presentations on December 2, 2009.

The project papers should be relatively short, 3,000 words at the maximum. The topic should be chosen to demonstrate your learning the principles of linear systems and signal processing from your review of electrical engineering publications. You might want to browse the IEEE Signal Processing Society website to help you select a term project.

Ideally, the term project is for you to:

  1. learn about an area linear systems and become our resident expert.
  2. select a project that solve an engineering problem.
  3. share your results with both classmates and the community.

Initially, we will need a project proposal describing project. This proposal will be reviewed by me to make sure that your project can be completed in the allotted time.

The final report will be due on November 30, 2009. The final report should follow the written preparation for the IEEE Region 2 Paper Contest Rules in the elec320_2009 workspace

The written communication and presentation will count for 40% of your project grade. The design methodology, technical content, and creativity will count for 60% of the project grade.
