Article Reviews
CSCI 240 Computers and Society Spring 2005
Professor Dan Hyde
Each student will be required to review two articles on assigned topics.
This short note is to provide some guidance for writing the review.
- State in the first paragraph the title of the article and the
source, e. g., Newsweek. State the author's name and include
his or her credentials. Why is he or she qualified to write the article?
- In your own words summarize the article. Briefly state the main idea
of the article. What is the author trying to do? List several facts which
the author uses to support the main idea. Discuss new terms or concepts
covered in the article.
- Try to relate the article to ideas discussed in class, in the
textbook or other readings.
- Discuss any examples of bias or faulty reasoning that you found in
the article. Do you believe everything the author says?
- What is your opinion of the article? Be critical. What surprised
you? What angered you?
- Include a bibliography even if it only contains the reference to
the article.
