Problem Description

TinyOS the leading open source operating system for low powered wireless devices developed at the University of California, Berkeley. TinyOS is designed with a 3-level hardware abstraction layer to allow operation on a wide variety of platforms. Zigbit is the name of a wireless module released by Atmel Corporation. Although the Zigbit is similar to existing sensor platforms, it is not natively supported by TinyOS at the moment.

Problem Goals

Create TinyOS platforms to support the various Zigbit modules. Integrate with master TinyOS repository. Test. Document.

Constraints

Use TinyOS and the Atmel Zigbit platform.

Criteria

Solutions should follow TinyOS coding conventions and be energy efficient and well structured.

Resources

I will provide various Zigbit devices.

Impact

This system will be put into production and used for my research. Potential for a scholarly publication. TinyOS community will be grateful.
