The Robot class is used to generate native system input events for the purposes of test automation, self-running demos, and other applications where control of the mouse and keyboard is needed. The primary purpose of Robot is to facilitate automated testing of Java platform implementations.

Automating GUI Programs with java.awt.Robot
The Robot class material starts about half way into this Sun "Tech Tips".
Java 1.5 API on Robot Class
A simple example program using Robot class.
1. Java code for simple phone pad class
2. Java code for test using Robot class of simple phone pad class
3. Copy the code into two files called "Client.java" and "test.java" into your directory. Compile them both.
4. To run the phone pad class the normal way, type
```
         java Client
```
  With the mouse click on a pad and the number, a star or a # will be printed in the Unix shell window.
5. To run the phone pad class where the Robot Class does the testing, type
```
         java test
```
