Notice that our Jackson Reunion 2004 has been upgraded from a reunion to a convention!
Schedule of Jackson Reunion 2004
Friday, August 6: A pre-reunion gathering at Ann and Dan
home in Cairo, West Virginia (See map), from which we'll take a caravan-style
tour of family-related sites in the Cairo-Cisco area. The tour will
likely be of interest only to those directly connected to the Henry J. Jackson family
and die-hard family historians; it may require a bit of walking. We'll
eat at the Fissels' home either before or after the tour.
Saturday, August 7: We'll meet at the community building in
Jackson Park, Vienna (See map) (adjacent to Parkersburg) for reunion
registration, mingling and a
coffee-and-donut breakfast. Professor Bernard L. Allen, formerly of West Virginia University-Parkersburg, will deliver a brief talk on the Parkersburg Jacksons and their role in early local gas and oil development. Following breakfast, we'll depart on a tour of historic family-related sites in Parkersburg, which will include a re-dedication ceremony for the James M. Jackson bust/fountain in
courthouse square, a guided tour of Riverview Cemetery, a visit to Jackson Fountain in City Park, and--we hope--a couple of
additional spots. We have the community building rented for the whole
day, and folks will be welcome to have lunch there and chat, but many
may wish to further explore the Parkersburg area singly or in groups.
For those interested in history, we recommend:

feel they've already had enough history for one day, there are several
In the evening, we'll re-assemble in the community building in
Jackson Park, Vienna for a
catered banquet, which will be followed by musical entertainment and Stephen Cassle's living history interpretation of General "Stonewall" Jackson.
Sunday, August 9: We will depart from Point Park, Parkersburg,
aboard an Ohio River sternwheeler for a
picnic on nearby Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park
(See map). The
picnic will include a talk on local history by Dr. Ray Swick of the Blennerhassett Museum of Regional History, our business meeting
and memorial service.
We're also looking for volunteers!

Upcoming Jackson Brigade Reunion in the News! (January 24, 2004)
The Jackson Brigade's upcoming reunion (Aug. 7-8, 2004 Parkersburg, WV)
made today's edition of The Parkersburg News! We're very excited about
the work the Wood County Historic Landmarks Commission is doing to
restore the James M. Jackson fountain in Parkersburg's courthouse
square and looking forward to the rededication ceremony. We're not
sure where they got the number for our expected attendance, but let's
try not to disappoint 'em! In addition to the fountain rededication,
there are a number of other events planned for the weekend, so tell
all your cousins! Preferrably, the ones we haven't already told! You
