Date Due: Monday, February 9, 2004 ** Changed to Wednesday, Feburary 11 **

  1. Reading: In the Hambley text, continue to study Chapter 2, Sections 2.1 through 2.5.

  2. Please solve the following problems at the end of Chapter 2 in the Hambley text.
    2.1, 2.6, 2.8, 2.13, 2.17, 2.24, 2.25.

  3. Consider the voltage divider circuit shown below, where Rsensor is a thermistor whose resistance is 1000 ohms at room temperature and 5000 ohms at body temperature. If R1 has value 500 ohms, what is the value of the voltage Vsensor at room temperature and at body temperature? What is the difference in Vsensor at the two temperatures?

Extra Credit: What value for R1 maximizes the difference in Vsensor at the two temperatures?

Thank you.
