Homework 5

Date Assigned: Friday, February 20, 2004
Date Due: Wednesday, February 25 and Friday, February 27, 2004

  1. Exam 1 will be on Wednesday, March 3. The topics will include everything that we have done in class and labs through February 27, including op amps.

I will be out of town from March 1 until March 3 (I will be back for lab on March 3). We will not have class on Monday, March 1, but we will make up this class in lab on March 3. I will arrange office hours for Matt Sharp to be available in case you have questions before the exam.

  2. Reading: In the Hambley text, please read Chapter 14 on operational amplifiers (op amps). We will cover some of the material in Sections 1 through 4 and 9.

  3. Please solve the following problems at the end of Chapter 2 in the Hambley text for Wednesday, February 25.
2.43: Use node-voltage analysis, labeling the nodes v1, v2, and v3 from left to right.

2.51, 2.53, 2.54, 2.59: These problems involve the Thevenin/Norton models and maximum power transfer.

  4. For Chapter 14 on op amps, I will provide some homework problems on Monday that will be due on Friday, February 27.

Click here for the op amp problems
Note: You do not have to do Puzzle 6.4.4.

  5. Please submit your lab notebooks on Monday, February 23, in class. I will review your notebooks for Labs 1 (there is not much for this one), 2, and 3. I will not review Lab 4, which we performed on February 18.

Please follow the Laboratory Guidelines that are available on the course web page when preparing your notebook.

Thank you.
