ELEC 226: Circuit Theory II Laboratories

Lab Grading:

Laboratory attendance is mandatory. If you have a legitimate reason for missing lab, please see the Prof. Kozick as soon as possible for alternative arrangements. Please attend during your assigned lab section.

Laboratory Guidelines:

• Lab description: A written description of each lab exercise will be distributed before the lab session (either on the web page or as a paper copy in lecture). Read the lab description before coming to your lab session.

• Pre-lab exercises: Pre-lab exercises will be included with some lab assignments to help us complete the lab activities within three hours. Your answers to the pre-lab exercises must be turned in at the beginning of your lab session. You may answer the pre-lab questions in your lab notebook, and I will check your work at the beginning of the lab session.

• Lab notebooks: Instead of writing formal lab reports, each student will keep a lab notebook that will be collected and graded periodically. Your lab notebook must be a bound "composition book" that is available in the bookstore. Loose leaf notebooks are not acceptable. For each lab, your notebook should contain the information listed below.
  1. Purpose of the laboratory exercise, or statement of the problem to be solved
  2. Analysis and design procedures used in your solution
  3. Procedure:
     • Circuit and test equipment diagrams
     • Description of procedural steps performed during lab (for example, how you performed the measurements)
  4. Discussion: Results, evaluation of results, conclusions

  The discussion is the most important section. You should carefully evaluate your results, and be careful about drawing conclusions that are not supported by the data!
