Faculty Governance Committe on Academic Computing

Charge (revised October 2007)

The Coommittee on Instruction (COI) creates a subcommittee to which it delegates its authority with regard to academic computing. This subcommittee will be called Committee on Academic Computing (CAC).

The CAC charge is to make policy recommendations concerning the use of technology in teaching, learning and research and to provide other advice to ISR leadership as appropriate. In addition, CAC distributes allocated funding for purposes of academic computing and facilitates communication between the faculty, students, and ISR.

The Committee on Instruction agrees to convey reports of the Committee on Academic Computing to the faculty without change but with whatever comments the COI feels appropriate.

The Committee on Academic Computing shall consist of seven voting members:

• One faculty member appointed by COI from each of the four divisions
• One student appointed by the BSG
• The Chief Information Officer or representative, and
• the ISR Director of Technology Integration.

• The chair or representative from each of CAC’s four divisional subcommittees. These divisional subcommittees are constituted by representatives of each department within a division. The subcommittee chair is designated by its members.
• One representative from the Teaching and Learning Center.
• One representative from ITEC (Instructional Technology Enhancing the Curriculum)
• The Dean of each college or a designate
• Other interested parties or additional ISR staff may be invited to attend.
