Graduate Council

Charge

The Graduate Council is a sub-committee of the Committee on Instruction.

The Committee on Instruction formed the Graduate Council as part of the recommendations resulting from the review of the Graduate Studies Program. The report of that review is dated November 30, 1994. The following is given as the charge to the Graduate Council:

A Graduate Studies Council is recommended as a subcommittee of the Committee on Instruction. That council has responsibility for recommending policy with respect to the graduate program to the Committee on Advising the Director of Graduate Studies as requested.

The membership on that council shall include the Director of Graduate Studies and the following appointees of the Committee on Instruction: two faculty members from departments with graduate programs, two faculty members from departments without graduate programs (with all faculty chosen to optimize divisional diversity on the council), and two graduate students. Graduate students shall be appointed for two-year terms. At least one of the students shall have the baccalaureate degree from Bucknell University. When possible, graduate students' terms shall be staggered. One of the faculty representatives will serve as chair of the committee.
