Civil engineering students explore reservoir hydrology

Posted on: | Category:

Enjoyed spending the afternoon with a group of civil and environmental engineering students in Professor Richard Crago's Watershed Hydrology course (CENG 420). The students enjoy getting off campus and spending an afternoon in the sunny shores of Lake Chillisquaque, a man-made water supply reservoir in Montour County, Pennsylvania. It was constructed by Pennsylvania Power and Light (PP&L) to provide cooling water for their coal-powered electrical plant.

The students got to paddle the reservoir and explore up close the water control structure, earthen dam structure, and discuss reservoir management alternatives to ensure the health of Chillasquaque Lake.
