For the project, the customer has supplied the following overall requirements for the Customizable Web Search Engine product:

• Allow 100 simultaneous users. (Performance)

• Use at least four (4) web search engines to obtain the raw data, including Google. (User added value)

• The product must have reasonable response time for each search, e. g., less than 5 seconds. (Performance)

• No user can view any identifying information on any other user. (Security)

• The product must maintain the trust of the user that the product is for their benefit and not third parties. For example, no ads will be posted, no secretly gathering of user data to sell. (Privacy)

• The product must be easy to use for a novice and also have useful features for advanced users. (User friendly; User added value)

• The user must feel he or she is in control of the search. (User friendly; User added value)

• The product must return good information on each search, e. g., as good as Google, with the best information easily viewed, e. g., near the top. (User added value)

• The product must be substainable, i. e. be useable over many months. (Substainablity)

• The mechanisms for customizing the search for the user must be as transparent to the user as possible. (User friendly)

• The user should be able to print the results with time, date and keywords used. (User added value)
