I am usually also available at the end of my MWF lectures at 9:50 am in Dana 307 and at 4:50 pm in BRKI 165.

Review Session - UPDATE (10/27/2025)

To help you prepare for Exam #2, an optional review session will be offered at 9:00 pm on Tuesday, October 28 in Breakiron 166. Dana 117 is not available at that time.

Remember to come prepared with questions to ask.

If you cannot attend the review session but would like to meet with me before the exam, please contact me.

Additional Supplemental Reading (10/27/2025)

The supplemental reading "Mixer Circuits and Image Frequencies" is now available at the course Moodle site. It was not assigned, but it could be helpful as you study the superheterodyne receiver architecture and image frequencies.

Pay particular attention to the "Image Frequencies" section. You may skim or skip the other sections unless you are interested in those topics.

This reading is regularly assigned in ECEG 497 (Wireless System Design).

Review Sheet for Exam #2 (10/27/2025)

The review sheet for Exam #2 is now available on the Exams page. It lists the topics from which the exam problems are most likely to be drawn. Note, however, that the list is not guaranteed to be exhaustive; some problems could cover topics not included on the review sheet.

The review sheet also lists the exam policies that will be in effect. Note that you will be allowed to use two 8.5 × 11-inch two-sided handwritten help sheets.

Monday, Oct. 27 Lecture Canceled (10/24/2025)

Because half of the class will be on a Senior Design trip on Monday, Oct. 27, we will not meet that day. We will make up for the cancellation during a future recitation or with a future extra hour. We will make that decision in class on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Selected Answers to Project #2 (10/23/2025)

Two ranges of PCM encoded sample values that you should obtain in Project #2 for the uncompressed and compressed signal are now available on the Recitation page.

Project #2 (10/23/2025)

The assignment for Project #2 is now available on the Recitation page. It is due via the course Moodle site at 11:59 pm on Friday, Oct. 31. The Oct. 23 recitation session will be devoted to providing assistance with Project #2.

Remember that the recitation will take place at 2:00 pm today in Dana 307.

HW #4 (10/22/2025)

The assignment for HW #4 is now available. It is due via the course Moodle site at 11:59 pm on Monday, October 27.

Recitation Time Changes (10/21/2025)

To avoid a conflict with the next two ECEG 350 exams, the recitation time for this week (on Thursday, Oct. 23) and on Thursday, Nov. 13 will be moved to 2:00–2:50 pm. Dana 305 is not available at that time, so we will meet in Dana 307.

HW #3 Revised (10/17/2025)

The problem statement in Graded Prob. 2 of HW #3 has been revised. The original statement confused the size of the phase accumulator of the DDS system with size of the address register for the sine wave look-up table.

A revised version of the assignment with the error corrected is now available on the Homework Assignments page.

Time Changes for Exams #2 and #3 - UPDATE (10/15/2025)

To provide more time on Exams #2 and #3, they have been rescheduled for 2:00–3:50 pm on Thursday, Oct. 30 and Thursday, Nov. 20, respectively. The schedule on the Exams page has been modified to reflect the time changes.

Each exam will take place in Dana 117. The location has been confirmed.

Please notify me as soon as possible if you become aware of a serious conflict with the new times.
