This is a shire gathering. All are welcome. To garb or not to garb?Garb is strongly encouraged (everyone else will be wearing it, you should too). Loaner garb is available if needed. Contact our Chatelaine or Seneschal for info.ActivitiesAs always, there will be a cooks guild competition - make a dish you've never cooked before from a period Islamic source, a potluck supper (everybody brigs a dish to share, and "the world's best gift exchange". (Gifts should be at least $15 ad of interest to some SCAdians - thats us. No gag gifts please). We encourage all parents to bring a small gift for their children to open prior to the adult gift exchange. A few power strips for crockpots would be very helpfull. There are 2 stove/ovens of questionable functionality on site.AccomodationsThere are many many bunk beds with mattresses available. Bring your own sheets and pillows. This is a dry site and there is no smoking indoors. Cowan's water is not very tasty so we suggest bringing your own drinking water. There are bathrooms and showers available as needed.DirectionsTake Rt 15 to Lewisburg. Turn west on Rt 192 (intersection landmarks - Sunoco, Chevy dealer, two gas stations). Follow 192 for about 6 miles to the village of Cowen. After you cross the bridge into Cowen, take the first right. Then take another right to go back to the conference center. SCA signs will be posted. Also look for signs for "Forrest D. Brown" conference center - same place. |
